National Grand Prize Winners for Graphic Design- Jimmy Vo and Arielle Thomas

Mr.  Arnold Drake, Engineering and Design teacher at Charles Drew High School , is pleased to announce that Jimmy Vo and Arielle Thomas have been selected as National Grand Prize Winners for Graphic Design.  For the second consecutive year, students from Charles R. Drew High School have been chosen as national winners for this competition, which is sponsored by Young Worker Safety and Health at Georgia Tech Research Institute, in partnership with the Gulf Safety Institute at the College of the Mainland.

This contest was designed to challenge students and adults to use their creativity to develop a poster and slogan aimed at increasing awareness of young worker safety and resources.  Teams could be comprised of one to five team members with ages ranging from 15 to 24.  This created fierce national competition with many teams and individuals submitting their posters.

Jimmy Vo won first place with his design “The Right Package.”  Jimmy will receive $1000 and an all expenses paid trip to Washington, DC to receive his award as part of National Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) week.  He will also have the rare opportunity to participate in events at the National Zoo and National Gallery of Art.

Arielle Thomas won second place with her design “Working Safe Is Working Smart”.  Arielle will receive a $250 prize for her work.
